Stop by the library Sunday, April 6 through Saturday, April 12 for Amnesty Week, also known as Fee Forgiveness Week! Amnesty Week is an opportunity to erase patrons’ overdue fees, including those that restrict library privileges. The goal is to get our materials back so that we can once again offer them to other community members AND to give as many patrons as possible a clean slate so that they can freely use all of FPL’s services.
Patrons with overdue fees on their accounts for materials that were returned late are eligible to have those fees waived.
If you currently have billed library items at home in good condition, you are also eligible to bring those materials back and have all associated fees waived no matter how long you have had the items.
Return overdue items in good condition to FPL before or during Amnesty Week. Then, you can visit FPL, email library@faylib.org or call the library at 479.856.7000 during Amnesty Week to have those fees waived.
Unfortunately, damaged items are not eligible for fee forgiveness. An overdue or billed item on a patron’s account must be returned to have the fees associated with that item waived.
All requests to have fees waived must happen between April 6–12.
FPL’s last Amnesty Week was in 2023, and we do not have another one scheduled in the future. Make sure to mark your calendars for April 6–12!
In 2023, FPL recovered more than 270 overdue items that were valued at approximately $5,000. Without Amnesty Week, FPL would have had to spend that money to replenish the collections and resume offering those items to other patrons.
