National Library Week is April 6–12! Celebrate the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. Whether you're visiting for books, resources, or a place to connect, your Fayetteville Public Library is here for you! There are many ways to celebrate National Library Week and we want you to get involved!

Have overdue fees? We think you deserve a do-over! Amnesty Week (Sunday, April 6 - Saturday, April 12), also known as Fee Forgiveness Week, is an opportunity to erase patrons’ overdue fees, including those that restrict library privileges. The goal is to get our materials back so that we can once again offer them to other community members AND to give as many patrons as possible a clean slate so that they can freely use all of FPL’s services. Reach out to staff via phone, email, or in-person during Amnesty Week to ensure your fees have been correctly removed from your account.
Protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read! The freedom to read has been under attack for years now. But the censorship attacks on libraries aren’t just book bans. The individuals and groups behind the attacks on libraries are threatening programs, cutting funding, and trying to pass laws that target library workers and educators. Contact your state representatives to advocate for library books, programs, and funding, as well as the protection of library workers and educators.
Take some time to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers! All week long, stop by any FPL service desk to write a quick note thanking FPL staff for their hard work – supplies will be provided, and messages will be displayed in the library through the month of April.
Can't make it to the library? Recognize the amazing STARS who work in libraries by nominating them as Stars in the ALA-APA Galaxy of Stars.
Celebrate library outreach and our dedicated professionals who are meeting our patrons outside of the library! Whether it's a bookmobile stop at the local elementary school, services provided to community homes, or library pop-ups at community gatherings, these services are essential to the community. Find our Community Outreach team out in the community on National Library Outreach Day at the University of Arkansas’ Card-A-Thon at Mullins Library from noon to 2 p.m. and end the day with a story time at Washington Plaza Apartments from 4-5:30 p.m. We'd love to see you there!
Rally advocates and support libraries! There are many ways that you can support the library during National Library Week (and year-round), whether that's attending a program, signing up for our newsletters, making a donation to the FPL Foundation, shopping at the Friends' Bookstore, volunteering your time or signing up for a library card.
