The Fayetteville Public Library is and always has been a welcoming space for every member of our community. Regardless of who you are or where you come from, our doors are open to you.
We know that many people in our community are navigating uncertainty right now, and we want you to know that this library remains a place where everyone can feel safe to learn, explore ideas, and access information freely.
Our commitment is unwavering: equitable services, broad access, and unbiased information for all who walk through our doors. That is our mission, and it does not change.
We want our community to know how we operate, because transparency builds trust.
The Fayetteville Public Library does not ask for immigration status, citizenship, or other personal identifying information beyond what is needed to provide library services. Your library records including registration and circulation information are confidential under Arkansas law and are not disclosed except as required by law.
Our policy is clear: staff do not disclose patron or staff information to anyone, including law enforcement, unless compelled by a valid court order or legally binding directive. Any such requests are handled in accordance with applicable laws and with guidance from legal counsel.
The Fayetteville Public Library has always belonged to this community – all of it. We are proud to serve a diverse city full of people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and stories. That diversity is not something we simply tolerate. It is something that makes our library and our community stronger.
We are here for you – whether you need access to information, a quiet place to work or study, programs for your family, or simply a space where you feel you belong. That is what public libraries do, and we take that responsibility seriously.
If you have questions or concerns, we welcome the conversation. You can reach us at questions@faylib.org or call us at 479.856.7000. Our doors are open and so is our commitment to you.
